Description:
When nineteen-year-old huntress Feyre kills a wolf in the woods, a terrifying creature arrives to demand retribution. Dragged to a treacherous magical land she knows about only from legends, Feyre discovers that her captor is not truly a beast, but one of the lethal, immortal faeries who once ruled her world.
At least, he’s not a beast all the time.
As she adapts to her new home, her feelings for the faerie, Tamlin, transform from icy hostility into a fiery passion that burns through every lie she’s been told about the beautiful, dangerous world of the Fae. But something is not right in the faerie lands. An ancient, wicked shadow is growing, and Feyre must find a way to stop it, or doom Tamlin—and his world—forever.
From bestselling author Sarah J. Maas comes a seductive, breathtaking book that blends romance, adventure, and faerie lore into an unforgettable read.
My Thoughts:
Okay everyone ... you got me ... I will admit the hype is REAL with this book. I honestly put it off for so long because I thought fantasy wasn't my thing (which I was also wrong about) and I thought ew fairies?? Well ACOTAR you officially have a new fan ... it just took me years to finally dive in.
This first book in the series is so good, the world-building was amazing and the characters were perfect. I loved Feyre and the love she had for this family who let her take care of them for years. This honestly made me quite mad to read - that they devoted on her while they all gave up. I loved the character of Tamlin and Lucien. The reference to the Beauty and the Beast retelling is very clear as you read.
Towards the middle, it slows down a little - but the ending is what makes it all worth it. There is such a great mix of romance and action when reading this that it kept me hooked. There's a bit of spice to this book but nothing too crazy. Seeing some spoilers about the series on Bookstagram made me very confused about some things but the second book quickly clears that up.
Overall, easy 5-star rating and a very easy-to-read book. I highly, highly recommend this book if you are one of the few people who hasn't read it yet - even if you don't enjoy fantasy as much. I am looking forward to the rest of this series!
